Highway 97 crash causes delays between Vernon and Falkland

UPDATE: Both drivers and occupants sustained non-life threatening injuries in crash that closed highway

UPDATE Friday 10:00 a.m.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision located at Highway 97 and Head of the Lake road, Thursday afternoon.

Just after 2 p.m. emergency crews were called to the township of Spallumcheen. Highway 97 was shut down for a short period of time due to the collision. A pick-up truck travelling south bound on Highway 97 struck a small SUV as it executed a left hand turn from St. Annes Road onto Highway 97 north bound.

Both drivers and three other passengers involved in the collision sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the nearest medical facility by the BC Ambulance Service.

There are no major injuries involved in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 97 by St. Anne’s Rd. near the Spallumcheen golf course Thursday afternoon.

But motorists travelling the highway should expect delays as crews work to clear the scene.

Traffic is backed up in both directions, and at one point was lined up from St. Anne’s to Mendenhall Road.

A Ford pickup and Subaru SUV were involved in the crash, which included entrapment.
