It was a hot one around the B.C. Interior on June 8, with plenty of areas breaking the heat records for that day on the calendar.

The village of Lytton, which holds the record already for hottest temperature ever in Canada, saw the mercury rise to 38.5C, breaking a record from 1948.

In the Okanagan, Kelowna squeezed by it’s record of 34.9C set in 2015 to 35.1C. Vernon was slightly higher, setting a new record of 35.5C.

Revelstoke got all the way up to 36.1C, also breaking a record from 1948, as did Kamloops, whose record went from 35.0C to 35.7C.

Princeton bested a record set 120 years ago, which was 33.9C. On June 8, 2023, the temperature reached 34.4C.

The weather around the Okanagan is expected to be cooler this weekend, sitting in the mid-to-high twenties with clouds and rain rolling in.
