Former Spotlight editor Donald Mare pleads guilty in child porn case

Former editor Donald William Mare, 59, pleaded guilty to making or publishing child pornography, possession of child pornography, and secretly observing/recording nudity in a private place.

Fifty-nine year old Donald William Mare of Princeton entered a guilty plea in Penticton Court last Wednesday, March 16.

His charges include: making or publishing child pornography, possession of child pornography, and secretly observing/recording nudity in a private place.

Following a police investigation in 2009, Mare was charged with crimes dating back to 2003.

On May 18, Mare is to appear in Penticton Court for his pre-sentence report.

Mare, who was once editor for the Similkameen Spotlight, is well known to residents of Princeton.
