The Town of Princeton welcomes the community to enjoy Princeton this B.C. Family Day holiday weekend.

Many local organizations have partnered with the Princeton recreation department to offer free, family friendly activities Feb. 19 and 20.

“Princeton welcomes families to be active this B.C. Family Day weekend at a variety of winter fun opportunities that are special to our rural community,” said Nadine McEwen, Princeton recreation and events coordinator.

“I wish to thank China Ridge Trails Association, Princeton Curling Club and the staff at the Princeton Arena for offering fabulous family day activities for everyone to enjoy.”

On Sunday, Feb. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at China Ridge Trails, spend time outside on snowshoes or cross-country skis then sleigh riding down the famous sleigh hill before warming up by a campfire.

Enjoy a warm beverage and treat as you visit with other families to share your stories of the day. Don’t forget to bring lunch, a mug, and your sleigh to have family fun on the hill.

On Monday, Feb. 20, lace up the skates to spend time at the arena for either a family day skate, stick and puck hockey or both. There are various times available to skate and the schedule can be found on line at www.princeton.ca/p/upcomingevents

Enjoy your time at the Princeton Curling Rink from 1-4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, as you throw ‘stones’ and ‘sweep away’ to score some points during a four-end game.

Beginners are welcome and those who enjoy curling on a regular basis. All activities are free including equipment rentals and treats.

Bring with you clean shoes with good grips and wear a warm jacket with gloves. Princeton curlers will be there to lead you through the sport.

The Princeton recreation department received a $1,500 grant from the province to support B.C. Family Day activities.
