Months of speculation will soon be over. Fifty-nine year old Donald William Mare who was once an editor for the Similkameen Spotlight and also an employee of the Princeton Arena was expected to appear in Penticton Court on February 26 to enter a plea, but the court date was moved to March 16.
Court documents record Mare as being expected to enter a guilty plea for his charges stemming from crimes as far back as 2003 that were uncovered in a 2009 police investigation. The charges include: making or publishing child pornography, possession of child pornography, and secretly observing/recording nudity in a private place.
Once a plea is entered, a trial date will be set or sentencing will occur depending on the outcome of the plea.
