COVID-19 returns to Similkameen Valley

Weekly cases rose in every health area in the South Okanagan except Penticton

The Similkameen Valley saw its first COVID-19 cases in several weeks over Dec. 5 to 11.

Princeton saw their first case since Nov. 20, while Keremeos recorded three new cases over the most recent week, according to data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

Cases in the Summerland local health area ticked upwards once again, rising to seven cases over Dec. 5 to 11 compared to four over the week before. Summerland’s cases are still down from the 28 cases recorded from Nov. 21 to 27.

The Southern Okanagan local health area, stretching from Okanagan Falls to Osoyoos at the border saw a modest increase from one case over Nov. 28 to Dec. 4 up to two cases over the most recent week.

The only decrease in the South Okanagan Similkameen was in the Penticton local health area, which saw cases drop from 15 to 14 over the most recent week.
