The past week has been somewhat frustrating for shoppers as the stock in the old Overwaitea is not being replaced, but rather depleted down. “None on the stock in this old store is going into the new store,” said Operations Manager Geri Sanborn. Sanborn arrived in Princeton a few short weeks ago and has been going full tilt since her arrival. She came from a Coopers store in Revelstoke bringing with her her years of experience with her. Coopers will have a new Assistant Manager too. Rob Price from Prince Rupert has moved to Princeton. Sanborn, Price and about 30 new employees will be part of the new team in the new Coopers store.
On May 17 at noon, “We are closing up the old barn,” said Sanborn. Then at 3 p.m. that same day the new Coopers team will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their new and bigger store.
Their will be a bbq, face painting, a Spin the Wheel game, Tony the Tiger, and more including a visit from the Thunderbird Fast Draw Club from Langley. “It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Sanborn stated. “As much as the community is looking forward to this day, the staff is too.”
The new Coopers store will have a full deli, a full bakery and more room for dairy, produce and everything in between. “We will have more products,” said Sanborn ‘in a much larger space. Everyone is very excited.”
Besides having more of pretty much everything, including staff, the new store will have more tills. “We have a self-scan till too,” Sanborn added. “Our customers are going to be thrilled with the new store. It’s is really nice and I can’t wait for them to see it on opening day.”
