Central Okanagan Search and Rescue helps look for 2 men missing in northern B.C.

Sam Benastick was reported missing on Oct. 19, 2024.

Family of a missing camper are greatly concerned after the young man failed to return from his trip as scheduled on Oct. 17. 

Sam Benastick was camping in the Redfern-Keily Park off of Highway 97 near the Sikanni Chief area, in Northern B.C. 

The man's family reported him missing on Oct. 19 and last received an update from Benastick on Oct. 8. 

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue has teamed up with Kamloops Search and Rescue to search the park. 

At the same time, COSAR is also assisting in the search for missing hunter James Barnes, near Chetwynd. 

Barnes was last seen with his dog and his grey Chevrolet pickup on Oct. 18 in the area of Ground Birch Road off 269 Road. 

The man's vehicle has been located, but Barnes and his dog remain missing at this time.
