Canada Day 2020, across the nation, will be acknowledged with a whimper, and not a bang.
As large gatherings are banned due to COVID, communities have cancelled traditional events.
It’s especially disappointing for Princeton, said Mayor Spencer Coyne, as this marks the 160th anniversary of the town’s founding.
“We were going to incorporate all kinds of events into one big theme,” Coyne said.
Instead, he said the town will acknowledge the nation’s birthday with a free drive-in movie night, held at the airport.
“We were struggling to know what to do.”
Onward, A Disney Pixar film, will be shown Saturday, June 27. Gates open at 8:30 p.m.
Provincial COVID regulations apply, said Coyne.
There will be only 50 vehicles allowed, no walk-ins, and people must remain in their vehicles. There is no concession and alcohol is prohibited.
Email registration opens Sunday, June 21, 12:30 p.m., and Coyne said he expects interest to be high.
