The Okanagan Hockey Community Foundation (OHCF) is proud to announce it is partnering again with Valley First, a division of First West Credit Union, on the second annual OHCF Dave Finner Memorial Golf Tournament.

The 2019 tournament takes place on June 28 at the spectacular Fairview Mountain Golf Course in Oliver. Dave Finner, a former employee of Valley First, was a long-time supporter of Penticton’s hockey community.

“The Foundation is extremely fortunate to partner again with Valley First in memory of Dave Finner,” said Michael O’Connor, chair of OHCF. “This is a great opportunity for both of our organizations to honour Dave’s memory in support of the Foundation’s efforts in providing educational opportunities to student-athletes and families facing financial obstacles.”

The Okanagan Hockey Community Foundation is a registered charity that was created in 2017 to help provide the best education and athletic opportunities to those seeking an avenue that may not be viable due to financial barriers. The foundation supports students and athletes in pursuit of achievement through programs focusing on the overall development of the individual. The focus of all programs is personal development — in the classroom, the community and on the ice.

“We feel fortunate to not only continue to honour Dave’s contribution to the hockey community, but once again support young hockey players at this fantastic tournament,” said Paulo Araujo, president of Valley First. “Sport is near and dear to my heart as well because of what it can do for young people and the community. Knowing we have already helped 25 families made our decision to partner with OHCF this year an easy one.”

“Dave and his family are longtime advocates of hockey and what the Okanagan Hockey Group offers as it prepares youth for their future,” said Kalli Quinn, Executive Director of the OHCF. “The support we received from Valley First, and the community, in 2018 was tremendous. The net proceeds from the 2018 event directly supported 25 families’ access to hockey and educational opportunities.”

Foursomes are on sale publicly starting today for $1250 CDN and can be purchased by visiting www.okanaganhockeyfoundation.com or by contacting the office at 250-276-8132.

Members of the Okanagan Hockey Academy Alumni and former and current NHL executives and players will be on-hand to share in the festivities.
