Okanagan College (OC) has a new Dean of Health and Social Development.
Patrena Mackie has more than 17 years of experience in teaching and health care and holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Nursing.
Mackie comes from Bow Valley College in Calgary where she was the Associate Dean of the School of Health and Wellness, Nursing portfolio.
“I am honoured to join Okanagan College and look forward to working with a dedicated team to create an inclusive, technologically advanced learning environment that supports all students," said Mackie.
An OC media release notes Mackie has made significant scholarly contributions to the health care education field, including working on the importance and impact of high-fidelity simulation and virtual reality in health care education.
“Her extensive experience and innovative approach to education will be invaluable in advancing our mission to provide high-quality, accessible education to all,” said Samantha Lenci, OC's Provost and Vice President Academic.
Mackie joins OC on Sept. 9.
