I thought I would tell you a little story. A fish story.

1.Why do we need smart meters? The Smart Metering Program will make our electricity system safer, more reliable, it will improve customer service, reduce electricity theft, and it will create the foundation for a modernized electricity grid that can accommodate new technologies. It’s also important to note that existing electro-mechanical meters are nearly obsolete and will not be manufactured much longer.

The Princeton Arts Council and the Upper Similkameen Indian Band are proud to announce The Upper Similkameen Spirit Festival’s Celebration of First Nations and Mini Pow Wow on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Riverside Centre in Princeton, BC. This full day family event runs 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

I was fascinated by dragonflies as a youth. They buzzed by on flashing wings, sometimes just missing my head in their erratic, darting flight. An older neighbor told us that if we were not careful they (he called them darning needle flies) would land on our heads and sew our eyelids shut. You can imagine we 10-12 year-olds were frightened by this prospect and we sure avoided them. This ridiculous myth is of course not true.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of The War Amps Key Tag Service. B.C. residents receiving their 2011 key tags starting this week will learn how their support of this valuable service allows the Association to continue its tradition of “amputees helping amputees.”

Ally Myers is a girl on a mission. Her mission is not of the usual variety. It is to win one of the highest awards possible for a Canadian between the age of 14 and 25. She hopes to win the Duke of Edinburgh Award and has been taking steps to do just that.
