Summerland students shine in speech competition

School holds public speaking competition for students from Grade 9 to Grade 12

Summerland students spoke out as they addressed pressing social issues, told stories and made audiences laugh during a recent speech competition.

The second annual Summerland Secondary School speech competition was held on Thursday May 30 all day at the school.

The competition saw all grade levels involved and the top three speeches at every grade level were awarded prizes.

The Grade 9 winners were Dirk Mora-Moolman, Leigha Herman, and Asha Cave.

The Grade 10 winners were Brinay Burdick, Jessica Thiede, and Daphne Susheski.

The Grade 11 winners were Sam Baker, Kayla Rogall, and Brooklyn Parliament.

And the Grade 12 winners were Victor Campagnaro, Calum Bird, and Matea Schmidt.
