PHOTOS: Easter lunch and smiles served at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission

MP Tracy Gray and MLA Renee Merrifield were two of the volunteers in attendance

Kelowna’s Gospel Mission (KGM) was filled with warm smiles and a warm meal as Easter lunch was served.

Lunch, consisting of turkey, ham, potatoes and special treats, was served at 12 p.m. to the approximately 300 people in attendance. It was served family-style, meaning it was a communal experience for all those who took part in the meal.

“Holidays can be difficult for people who are suffering and lonely,” said KGM executive director Carmen Rempel in a press release prior to the event. “Putting on a beautiful meal is a powerful way to communicate dignity and worth to those we care for, giving a little hope during difficult times.”

Included in the volunteers helping with preparation and service were MP Tracy Gray and MLA Renee Merrifield.

The Easter lunch took place at both KGM’s downtown location at 251 Leon Avenue. Anyone interested in volunteering, helping out KGM with for Easter lunch or other future events or donating can reach out to or 250-763-3737.
