Musings from Princeton Museum

The Princeton and District Museum and Archive Society (the Museum) is very excited to start reporting on the re-birth of the Princeton Museum

Renovations: the Library has their new home. The Museum is itching to move into theirs. A whole new, expanded, exciting space incorporating all of the old library and all of the old museum. Structural, electrical, plumbing, heating nears completion.  Painting and flooring (tiles and wood) has started.

All New Displays: the museum will incorporate much of the old into new, interactive, and exciting exhibits. Just wait and see! Fossils, fluorescent minerals, Pollard collection, aboriginal display, store front, pioneer artifacts and memorabilia, local historical figures displays, church history and displays, RCMP honoured, 1880’s cabin inside the museum, railway, logging, and mining exhibits to be showcased, a rotating display for community groups, gift shop and much, much more.

Archives: with a new collections policy nearing completion and more space to organize, improved and expanded archival availability is just down the road.

Museum Newsletter: a regular feature to keep members and others up to date.

Web Page: please wait....it will not be long!

Exciting Volunteer Opportunities: everything from helping with displays, to staffing the museum to increase hours of opening to the public, to helping with the gift shop, to mentoring “Museum Kids”, to fostering community group interaction with the museum, and more.

Membership: the Museum welcomes you, all of you.  We have a newly elected Board, an exciting once in a lifetime opportunity, and want you to be a part of it with us. Memberships will be available at various community events until the museum re-opens.  We hope all who then come to the new museum will join!

Copper Mountain Mine: watch for their Princeton museum sponsorship event May 3, 2011 as part of Mining Week.

Opening Day: will keep you posted - we are working very hard to make it happen for you. Watch for the date and join the activities.
