Wes Wigglesworth of Cawston may not run a fully certified organic farm, but he holds to the same tenets.
“We grow pesticide free fruits and vegetables,” said Wigglesworth. “We started growing for ourselves. We wanted to eat pesticide free food for ourselves, and it just sort of grew into something we’re bringing to market.”
In addition to a wide variety of beets, Wigglesworth and his family also bring cherries and a number of different tomatoes to the market.
“We grow heritage tomatoes, approximately 200 varieties of tomatoes,” said Wigglesworth. “We have a lot of different colours, different designs, and some are very psychedelic looking.”
