Every kid who has the chance will pick up a paint brush and explore their creative side in a kind of reckless abandon that few adults are able. It is with this thought in mind that teachers at John Allison Elementary have turned over a project to their students. The project is a heartfelt one with all proceeds going directly to John Allison School’s latest foster child from Peru.
The teachers put their heads together to come up with a fundraising idea that would be fun for the students and staff alike and decided on a one day only Art for Others art show and sale. The one-of-a-kind student art pieces will all be for sale at John Allison Elementary School on May 18 from 5-7 p.m. and the staff and students are encouraging the public to come to the art show and purchase a goodie from the bistro of homemade treats that will accompany the show.
“It has been really fun watching all the effort the kids have been putting into their projects,” said teacher Candace Ostertag. “They have all done their own thing and the results are fantastic. We are all pumped and hoping for community support to make the show a success.”
