Youth in the Okanagan who are improving their communities have a chance to receive project funding of up to $2,000.

United Way CSO, GenNext Kelowna and the Central Okanagan Foundation for Youth (COFFY) have partnered again to offer Youth Initiative Grants.

These grants are available to young people up to age 25 who are partnering with an organization to create positive change in their local community. The partner organization can be a school, church or charity and youth must reside in either the Central or South Okanagan Similkameen in order to apply. Applications are available until the March 1 deadline.

“Our board has had the opportunity to be part of the granting process for many years. The youth applicants never disappoint and continue to inspire us with their commitment to their communities,” said GenNext co-chair Kayla Caruana.

Last year’s recipients included youth-led projects by Enactus Okanagan College, Interact Club part of Rotary Club of Kelowna, Aberdeen Hall, Peachland Wellness Centre, School District 53 and The Bridge Youth and Family Services. More details available on the United Way website link below.

Application packages are available at http://unitedwaycso.com/how-we-help/kids/youth- initiative-grants/, or by calling the United Way CSO office at 250-860-2356.
