The Agur Lake Camp Society has raised more than $20,000 at its 11th annual Charity Golf Tournament.

The tournament, presented by Summerland Timber Mart, was held July 20 at the Summerland Golf and Country Club.

“On behalf of the board of directors of the Agur Lake Camp Society, we sincerely thank all of our sponsors, donors and participants who helped make this year’s annual golf tournament a tremendous success,” said Janice Mallory, president of the Agur Lake Camp Society.

“We had a great turn out and beautiful weather for this year’s golf outing, and most importantly we successfully raised much needed funds which will be used to maintain and operate the camp.”

In addition to 18 holes of golf, tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions, designed to introduce a different perspective on the word “handicap” while golfing.

Three of the challenges included a one-legged putting contest, straightest one-armed drive, and a wheelchair target contest.

The camp is B.C.’s only fully accessible wilderness campground. It is 20 kilometres from Summerland and offers fully furnished cabins, dry RV sites, dock, paved trails, communal fire pit, picnic pavilion and an outdoor accessible washroom.

The facility is almost entirely barrier free so that every camper, regardless of their level of ability, can enjoy nature and the outdoor experience.
