Giving thanks for volunteers

Lynn Pelly, executive director of Princeton & District Community Services extends thanks to community volunteers.

Despite what we hear from time to time, volunteers continue to be the foundation of our community and are responsible for many of the wonderful events that are happening.  It is true that many of the volunteers have served the community for years and are no doubt growing weary but their contributions must surely instill within others the benefits and rewards of volunteer work.

If you review any of the activities available within the community, very few would occur without the help of volunteers.  The Fish & Game banquet, the Diamond Dinner, the Figure Skating Carnival, Shave for the Brave, medical transportation to Penticton & Kelowna, the Hospital Auxiliary, Racing Days, the Fall Fair, Family Day at China Ridge, the Seniors’ Centre, the Posse hockey team, Lions’ Pancake Breakfast, Rotary Wine Fest, the Legion Ladies, Snow Angels, Rotary Parade, Flu Clinics, school activities, Special Olympics, minor hockey, ball, soccer, Swim Club and the list goes on.

On behalf of Princeton & District Community Services, I would like to sincerely thank the many volunteers who give freely of their time to enhance our lives and provide assistance to improve the quality of life for many others. Each volunteer deserves a round of applause!  We truly hope that what they give is but a small share of what they receive.

Our organization is fortunate to have a core group of dedicated volunteers who give many hours of quality time to those we support; always ready, always willing to do whatever is asked, fully supportive of our programs and goals.  They are the bright lights in our days!  New Beginnings, the Adult Day Program and the Society extend their sincere thanks to you for your generosity.

Please take the time during volunteer week to personally thank those who have made a difference in your life through their volunteer efforts.
