Cannery Brewing had life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus in their taproom at Christmas.

Cannery Brewing is sending out a big thank you to everyone who visited their taproom for Santa photos and to enjoy a Candy Cane Pavé during the month of December.

Based on donations from both of these initiatives, Cannery Brewing was able to make a donation to the South Okanagan Children’s Charity (SOCC) to help them with all of the great work they do to help families in the South Okanagan.

Kids and families could sit with life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus, make their wishes to Santa, and bring their own cameras to take photos or selfies.

Ian Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing, said at the time that he was excited to be able to offer a fun, safe alternative to photos with Santa in a challenging year.

“While so many things are so different this year, one thing that remains the same is that kids want to visit with Santa. We put on our collective thinking caps to figure out how to make this happen and to be able to have Santa photos in a safe and special way,” Dyck said.

While there was no charge for the photos with Santa, people could make a donation to the SOCC.

The South Okanagan Children’s Charity has assisted families of children with health problems for more than 45 years. They provide assistance to families with children who have medical needs and extra medical expenses. One hundred per cent of the money collected is used to help local children and their families.

“You can always count on the team at Cannery Brewing to think outside the box and come up with solutions, especially during these uncertain times,” said Jasmine Aantjes, director of the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.
