The Princeton Community Arts Council invites students to submit an art piece inspired by the Arts, History and Culture of the Okanagan First Nations created by the student.

Art pieces can be 2D, 3D or multimedia creations. Robin Lowe, Festival Coordinator wishes to “encourage students to try something new-beading, pottery, drawing on leather, painting, drawings or fabrics- use your imagination and come up with something that honors and shows respect for the history of the First People of the Okanagan region.”

This First Nations inspired student art show is to be judged by elders from the Upper Similkameen Indian Band. First prize $100 cash, 2nd prize $50 prize value, 3rd prize $25 prize value will be awarded to school aged children in grades 4 to 12. A colouring contest is open for children in pre-school to grade 3 with age appropriate prizes available to be won.

Festival Coordinator Robin Lowe wishes to express, “This activity is a very important aspect to the Spirit Festival as the festival was created with children and families in mind. This is a fun way for students to participate, and learn about first nation’s history while participating in the arts”.

All art work can be dropped off on Friday, February 25 from noon to 5:00pm at Riverside Centre. A registration form will be available at this time for students to include with their creation.
