Eighteen Vermillion Forks Field Naturalist’s ventured up to Tellier’s Fisherman’s Cove at Osprey Lake for their annual snowshoe outing on Saturday February 12th.

Some members tried on snow shoes for the first time and others were seasoned snowshoers.  While the weather was less than desirable, we hiked to the “Top of the World” lookout where we had hoped to view the Cascade mountains and other surrounding vistas usually seen on clear days.  We then hiked down to “The Goddess” viewpoint which had a view of the three lakes ~ Osprey, Link and Chain.  As well as the great views the group saw effects of pine beetle infestation, fresh animal tracks, a few remaining old growth fir trees, and an up close view of an osprey nest.

The next outing will be Saturday March 26th titled “Tanglewood Territory” with Tim & Del Hall who will explore their surroundings to find buttercups, birds and great views of their area.
