And the cutest Canada Day pet in the South Okanagan is…

Get ready for the next round, hiking pets!

Gary Doi and Rusty receive their prize for cutest pet from the Western News' Rhonda Fujino
You all are sure proud of your pets! We got almost 100 photos of patriotic pets for our Canada Day contest from 38 families.

But there can only be one winner, and that honour went to Gary and Gwen Doi’s Rusty, a six-month-old Australian Labradoodle. He gets the prize, but we couldn’t let this go without showing you some of our other favourites, and a slideshow of all the entrants!

This week, we’re looking for pets enjoying the great hiking and trails we have in the South Okanagan-Similkameen. Does your pet stick by your side no matter how tough the terrain? Show us!

Email us a photo of your pet setting the pace to editor@pentictonwesternnews.com for a chance to win a prize.

Include their name, breed, the owner’s name and contact info with a photo (horizontal preferred) by July 11 at 4 p.m.

The winner will be featured in the Penticton Western News, Summerland Review, Keremeos Review and Similkameen Spotlight. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/PentictonNews or visit any of those papers’ websites on July 7 to see a photo gallery of all the submissions and the winner.

And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @PentictonNews.
