This historic photo is from May 13, 1998, when thieves used a stolen Caterpillar log grapple loader to pry the night deposit safe from the front of the CIBC bank. This was before cell phones were common and a local resident who witnessed the crime had to find a pay phone to call it in. A stolen pickup truck was used to carry the safe away.
