THOMPSON, Stan
November 16, 1935 - July 10, 2011
It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to George Stanley Andrew Thompson. Beloved father of Bruce (Lisa) Thompson of Abbotsford, BC and Angela (Jonathan) Smith of Delta, BC, Grandfather of Justin, Lucas, Ryan, Kate and Logan.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Jud Thompson, of Summerland and by his horse Barney (a.k.a ‘Dough-head’). Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife, Mildred, in 2008. Stan was born in Princeton and grew up in Hedley and Keremeos. He will be remembered as a ‘Cowboy’.
His years of ranching led to his passion for rodeo which led to Stan initiating and establishing the Princeton Rodeo. He would always volunteer his time and was a pillar of the communities he loved so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Princeton Arena with Jud Thompson officiating. Stan’s Farewell Party will be held at the Princeton Rodeo Grounds at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2011, where there will be an open mic for sharing memories.
