Vehicles, boats, structures damaged in fire in Kelowna’s Mission

The fire was first reported at about 4:15 p.m. April 30, 2024

Update: May 1 8:40 a.m.

Four structures, one vehicle, five recreational vehicles and two boats were damaged in the blaze, according to the Kelowna Fire Department.

The first arriving crews found a large hedge on fire at the rear of a residence with multiple exposures to vehicles and structures.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down and stop the spread. There were no injuries to the public or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is accidental, due to an outdoor electrical issue.

RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and FortisBC were also on scene to assist.

Fire crews are responding to a fire at a home in the 400 block of Barkley Road in the Mission.

Flames and smoke were seen rising from the area at approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday April 30.

Firefighters and police have blocked a portion of Eldorado Road and Barley Road while on scene.

The blaze is believed to have originated in the backyard of the house.

A witness told Capital News she saw flames coming from the property.

Trees in the backyard of the property are visibly charred and there is believed to be some damage to the house.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined and an investigation is ongoing.
