As the risk of flooding has reduced throughout the region, and the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen scales back emergency operations, residents are reminded to keep sandbags in place.
The emergency operations centre recommends property owners keep sandbags in place until the threat of flooding has passed. The RDOS said rain events throughout June can still increase the threat of flooding so property owners are asked to keep sandbags on their property as a precaution.

If property owners deem the risk is low enough, they can drop off sandbags at your local landfill (with the exception of Summerland due to an ongoing construction project). The District of Summerland has put bins in various locations along Aeneas Creek. These bins will be moved to lakeshore areas effective June 18, as the District of Summerland is encouraging residents to keep flood mitigation measures in place along the lake for another week.
The emergency operations centre will close to the public effective Friday, June 15 at 4:30 p.m. For after-hours emergencies, residents are directed to call the Provincial Emergency Reporting Line at 1-800-663-3456.
