To the editor

In response to the article in The Similkameen Spotlight with regards to the caboose, council would like to release the following statement:

This response is to address statements made in the recent article regarding the litigation between the Town of Princeton and the Vermilion Trail Society concerning ownership of the caboose.

First and foremost, the Town of Princeton council is obligated to the people of Princeton to protect the ownership of its assets. If the Town of Princeton council relinquished ownership of this asset, for the sole purpose of avoiding litigation, it would set a precedent that could jeopardize the security of ownership of other town assets.

The Town of Princeton council gives serious consideration to these matters when they arise and are confident that details of this litigation will be available to the public once a judgement is rendered.
