This year’s record breaking $15,000 fundraising effort at the 4th annual Colours4Kids Run is already ear marked for some important work by OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre officials.

And according to the centre’s executive director Manisha Willms the money will go where it’s most needed.

“The funds raised this year will go towards providing additional treatment groups for children currently on waiting lists,” said Willms Friday after she and board chair Tyler Chick received the money from president Mark Melissen and Julie Read of the Wildstone Group of Companies.

Hosted for the second year by another of the major sponsors, LocoLanding Amusement Park, this year’s colourful event attracted over 700 people, also a record.

“Fostering a compassionate community is part of the mission of OSNS,” added Willms. “We want to raise awareness not only about the importance of early support for children who need it but also about the importance of strong early play programs for all kids.

“The corporate citizenship of companies such as Wildstone Construction help make that happen. It was amazing to see so many families out to have fun and support the cause. And it’s always great to be hosted by Diana Stirling and the generous folks at LocoLanding.”

Special guest for the Colours4Kids this year was Chicago Black Hawks star Duncan Keith who supplied a number of silent auction to help the cause as well as signing autographs.

Another special guest and the organizer of the first run in 2013 was Sinclaire Lovett.

The event is in memory of her older sister who died the year before and who regularly used the services of OSNS.

The centre’s annual general meeting is June 22 at its offices from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
